Our 4 adventurers awoke to find themselves facing each other, complete strangers. With none of them having any clue how they arrived in the room they were in they quickly decided to party up and see if they couldn't figure out what was going on.
After a quick search they noticed a note near the double doors. It read,
Their search also yielded a lever that opened the steel double doors (Starting Room)
Immediately after opening the doors they were faced with 4 Outlaws and 2 Archers in what looked like a library. Stacks of books down the middle of the room providing some decent cover for the bandits.
One of our adventurers, Nettle, had the great idea to rush between the 4 outlaws and let them know how he felt. They soon flanked him from all sides and proceded to lay down a decent beating. This forced Hunzu (luckily for adventurers a healer) to come to Nettles aid.
A pitched battle soon broke out, the Monk Nebin whirling through the enemies delivering crushing blows and limiting options for the outlaws. While Shaz worked the edges of the room dropping opponents and positioning them through force of will.
Eventually the adventurers started to come out on top, but one archer managed to escape down the stairs to the room with a pool. Nebin pursued but was unable to find her and returned to help finish off the other archer to complete the encounter.
What will happen from here? Find out in session two!
During our adventurers quick breather to heal up and search for goodies after their stunning victory over the bandits, they heard a large *POP* noise. Peeking back in the original room they found a slowly awakening Drow!
After some time for the new arrival to compose himself they learned his name, Pex. He also had no idea how he had arrived. Pex was quicky brought up to speed with what they knew. Pex felt rather than the tea the note promised he would warm his rump on one of the nearby braziers.
Soon Pex was toasty and the group set off to the west doors, carefully entering the hallway, down the stairs, and frustratingly finding a large pile of rubble from a collapsed ceiling. Nebin assured the party he could fit through and see what was beyond, the rest of the party however could not and he was quickly overruled.
Hoofing it back over to where Nebin chased the archer they started to seriously examine the pool after doing some intense searching for other exits. Nettle took a closer look and noticed the pool rippling, from no source, and really couldn't see further than a foot down even though the water was clear.
Not wanting to risk themselves a bandit corpse volunteered to be the guinea pig and was tossed into the pool. Slowly the corpse sank, further and further down then slowly vanished about a foot under the water. After a few minutes of silence, Hunzu stepped up to the plate shortly followed by Shaz. They both started to slowly sink into the pool and watched their feet vanish as well, but still clearly feeling them attached.
At this point everyone jumped onto the pool of vanishing bandwagon while Hunzu sped up the process by dunking himself. After full submersion the party felt themselves slowly push back up, but quite obviously in a different room. They first noticed the shredded corpse of the escaped archer, then quickly noticed the very large wolf in the corner.
A long battle commenced with the entire party throwing down control attack after attack to keep the wolf cornered and confused. At one point after sniping back Nettle found himself afflicted with a Moon Frenzy, stealing his will... and our party quickly realized this may be no ordinary wolf! During the battle the wolf shifted forms a few times from wolf to human and back, utilizing different attacks in each form. Our party was lucky enough no one else was bitten and didn't not also get infected.
The wolf was having troubles with the strong defensive the party was putting up, and when it was looking like the fight might be over the archer started shuddering, wounds closing and tufts of fur sprouting. Not wanting to let the metamorphosis continue Pex quickly blasted the archer with his Eldritch power, downing her again! A couple more blows were traded with the wolf, and again the archer started to heal... At this point our party realized more drastic action was needed.
A few coup de graces later, both werewolf and archer were finally laid to rest, flesh dropping off bones leaving nothing but half morphed bones.
What lays beyond the doors to the north? What will happen to Nettle now that he is infected with Moon Frenzy? Find out next time!
